In this case, one man’s
sorrow is the listener’s good fortune. With a sound imbued with
rock and roll idealism and tainted by life’s complexities, Birdy
is simultaneously a homage to indie rock, past and present and a sonic
exploration of their personal life experience.
Drawing from their varied interests in rock, dub, electronica, and
80’s pop, Birdy’s music blends these elements in a refreshing
new way.
As for members Dav Hoof (vocals), Tim Hochman (bass), Mark Prather
(synth/ keys), Greg Lopez(guitar) and Monty Thorin (drums), they are
a collection of schooled and unschooled musicians whose collaboration
has produced an unexpected synergy. Through their creative process,
Birdy has blurred the lines between art and pop. At their best, they
walk the line between them both. Birdy’s self titled EP was
released in the spring of 2007. The members expect to return to the
studio this summer in preparation for the full length release in 2008. |
